Workshop Overview:
The goal of this interactive workshop, “Cultural Humility and Cultural Competency in Counseling”, will discuss the concepts of cultural humility and cultural competence in the counseling profession. Workshop participants will be introduced into the differences between cultural competence and cultural humility. Participants will be able to differentiate between the two and be able to identify at least two problems associated with the concept of cultural competence. Participants will learn about the origin of race as it is defined in the United States, and how our conceptions differ from other cultures. Workshop participants will be introduced to four different codes of ethics, how they define our need to be culturally competent, and whether they even address cultural humility. Both large and small group exercises on cultural awareness will occur throughout this workshop.
Workshop Objectives:
By attending this conference you will be able to do the following:

1. Workshop participants will be able identify at least two differences between cultural humility and cultural competence.

3. Workshop participants will be able to differentiate which code of ethics include both cultural competence and cultural humility and which ones only address the need for cultural competence.

4. Workshop participants will be able to identify the origins of racial classifications in the US and how they are currently defined.

5. Workshop participants will be able to list at least two questions to help ascertain an organization’s cultural competence.

How do I obtain my certificate of completion?:
Certificates of completion will be awarded at the end of the workshop day to participants who meet our requirements. Participants must be in attendance throughout the entire workshop. Participants will sign-in at the beginning of the workshop and sign-out at the end of the workshop. Upon signing out, the participant will complete the workshop evaluation and receive their certificate of completion by workshop staff. If requested, PDF of the certificate of completion can also be emailed to any participant requesting such, and they will receive the PDF certificate of completion within 48 hours of the conference date.
Credentialing Information:
This course is approved for 3 NBCC Clock Hours (LPC, LAC, LCADC, CADC, LMFT, LAMFT, LCSW, LSW) of continuing education (NBCC Provider #6532). NJ Social Workers: We have applied for approval from the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program.

Cancellation/Reimbursement Policy:
Valid requests must be received in writing/email within seven (7) days of course date. Late requests for this 1 day workshop can only bring in a substitute attendee or receive credit for a future workshop date. All refunds are subject to a $15.00 processing fee. If paid by credit card, an additional $4.04 fee will be assessed to cover the cost of PayPal processing charges on credit cards. Refund requests require 2-3 weeks processing time and will be issued as a check as is our policy.
Privacy Policy:
Advanced Counselor Training keeps all information private. None of your information will go out to any other vendors, marketers, or other 3rd party applications or programs. On-line sign-up is done via a secured, encrypted server and any hard copy information sent to Advanced Counselor Training is stored in a locked, secure location.
Grievance Policy:
Valid grievance requests must be received in writing/email within ten days of workshop date, or can be provided in person directly after the workshop. Every attempt will be made to resolve a grievance with a complainant at the time of the grievance. Should this not be resolved, the complainant will be provided further grievance procedures to follow including contacting the Licensed Professional Counselor Committee at the Division of Consumer Affairs at (973) 504-6415, and/or contacting NBCC at (336) 547-0607, to report the nature of the unresolved grievance.
Any social worker not pleased with the complaint resolution provided by Advanced Counselor Training, LLC may appeal to the CE accrediting entity or their jurisdictional board. The State Board of Social Worker Examiners at the Division of Consumer Affairs can be reached at (973) 504-6495.

1) Which licensures are these clock hours approved for?
This course is NBCC approved thus it is good for LPCs, LACs, LCADCs, CADCs, LMFTs, LAMFTs, LSWs and LCSWs. Social Workers you also accept NBCC approved courses as per your continuing education licensure regulations: 13:44G-6.4(c)(12) SOURCES OF CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS AND CREDIT-HOUR CALCULATIONS (page 19). However, just to be sure we have this announcement. NJ Social Workers: We have applied for approval from the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program.
2) Will this workshop count towards the 3 hours needed for NJ LCADCs/CADCs, LCSWs/LSWs, LPCs/LACs, LMFT/LAMFT in social and cultural competence training every biennial period?
YES! This course will provide that 3 clock hour training requirement, not only required in NJ but in many states. This webinar is accessable to anybody as long as your state allows NBCC approved workshops to count towards continuing education.
3) If the workshop is presented in both a live, interactive webinar and as an in-person training, will this workshop be offered in a hybrid fashion (e.g., open to either those attending in person or via webinar simultaneously)?
No! We currently do not have approval for the hybrid format, nor are we seeking approval for the hybrid format. Therefore, the entire workshop must be taken either as a live, interactive webinar or as an in-person live workshop, and will only be offered as such.
